

ABOUT BILL

William (Bill) Waldack is 61 years old and has lived with Judy, his wife of 37 years, in Downers Grove since 1985. They have two young adult children, Jeff and Sara, who attended St. Joseph School and graduated from Downers Grove South. There are also a number of extended family members who also live in Downers Grove.
Bill graduated from DePaul University with a degree in Political Science in 1972. In 1988, he completed the Executive Development Program at the University of Iowa. He retired from AT&T as a Budget Manager in Global Real Estate in 1995.
Bill has served as Downers Grove Commissioner since 2005 and has two years left in his second term. He chaired the Finance and Administration Committee, has served on the Public Services and Public Safety Committees. He has also served as liaison to Transportation and Parking, Environmental Concerns and the Human Services Committees. Bill has always been involved in his community serving as Downers Grove Chairman of the Subcommittee on Alternative Transportation, and regularly attended Village Council meetings and numerous committee meetings addressing such issues as stormwater, planning, and finance.
Bill is currently the Vice President of Senior Home Sharing and has served two terms as Chair of the DuPage County Inter-Agency Paratransit Coordinating Council (IAPCC) which consists of about fifty municipalities, townships, Not-For-Profits, as well as DuPage County. In this capacity, Bill has met and worked with a number of officials and community leaders in DuPage County. Their program, Ride DuPage, has provided almost 1 million rides to seniors and people with disabilities.
Bill has served as Vice President for the Chicago Afffiliate for the Foundation Fighting Blindness, the South DuPage CROP Walk Committee for 14 years, and assisted the DuPage United Way in evaluating grant applications.
Bill is an active parishioner at St. Joseph’s Parish and has been teaching in the Religious Education Program for 11 years and served a three year term on the Parish Council.
Previous positions include being on the Board of Chicago’s Travelers and Immigrant’s Aid and Vice President of its International Adoptions Board. He has also been a substitute teacher at Downers Grove North and South High Schools.
